Spider Naevi

Spider Naevi a central dilated blood vessel, with smaller capillaries radiating from it like the legs of a spider. Spider naevi may be found on areas such as the face, neck, upper part of the trunk & arms.

Cause

The cause of spider naevi can be related to physical trauma in the area, hormonal influences, pregnancy, the contraception pill, lifestyle and hereditary.

Treatments

Electrolysis

A small probe about the size of a eye lash, will gently touch the surface of the skin, a slight burst of energy is expelled and a small sting may be experienced. This procedure will be repeated a number of times. Spider Naevus can be stubborn and more than one treatment is often required.

IPL

Energy is passed through a quart crystal to attract the “red” in the lesion and cause coagulation and damage to it. The sensation is like flick of an elastic band. The body will then clear up this debris over time. Again, for larger spider naevus occasionally more than one treatment may be required.

Following Your Treatment

You may experience a slight reddening and / or swelling or the skin in the area

Warmth in the area that has been treated

Pin dot crusting may form following electrolysis

The skin may feel itchy as the healing process takes place

Results may be immediate but can take up to 3 months in some circumstances.
