Nose to Mouth Lines

Skin Tightening followed by Dermal Filler to Create natural looking results

The lines that you found that follow down from your nose to mouth are called naso-labial lines. They extend from both sides of your nose to your mouth (also known as smile or laughter lines).

Naso-labial folds can get more prominent as you get older and are in fact one of the most common reasons people visit us. Their cause being a mixture of reduced collagen, reduced elasticity, volume loss (loss of facial fat pads), bone density loss (causing shrinking and therefore structural changes to your face) dehydration and surface skin build up/damage. So what can you do about them?

Eat a good diet – i.e. ensure its full of nutrient dense whole foods and avoid the processed foods as much as possible. Supplementing vitamin D3 + K2 is a sneaky favourite trick to maintain health while maintaining your beauty. K2 is not the same as K1- K2 helps clear up free floating calcium from around the body and sends it straight back to the bones helping you to protect against osteoporosis (especially important post menopause); but also to keep those beautiful cheek bones and jaw line that give your face so much structure!

Stop smoking – this is terribly affects collagen in our skin, starving it from oxygen and causing free radical damage.

Wear a good SPF to protect against oxidative stress

Stay hydrated!! drink plenty of water – remember caffeinated drinks can be a counter productive

Dermal Fillers

Different types of Hyaluronic dermal fillers are designed to go in different places of your face. If your line is fine we may be able to place a tiny amount in the line itself. If you line is deep and more of a fold we may need to consider the cause for the fold which could be caused by volume loss to the mid cheeks or posterior jaw or even bone loss to the angle of the jaw – in these cases thicker fillers would be chosen to mimic padding or bone. We use the highest quality dermal filler that integrates into your skin leaving you looking beautifully natural. Your face will be assessed during your consultation where we can explore causes and a range of options for your treatment.

Skin Laxity Should Ideally be Treated First

It is my expert opinion that we should always treat skin laxity First – should that be a problem. The rational behind this is to ensure we avoid a bulky front face by only “colouring in the folds” using dermal fillers. Let’s face it – “planet of the apes” is not the look we’re going for – Right?

By tightening or plumping skin we can significantly reduce the volume or dermal filler that may be required in the nose to mouth lines. Click the link below to take you to the “loose skin” page
