What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a popular non surgical procedure that can increase volume in the skin targeting bone structure, fat pads and the dermis to shape the face, plump, hydrate and resolved folds and fine lines. It can be used to beautify or restore features.
Hyaluronic acid (HA)is a naturally occurring acid in your skin. It gives your skin volume and keeps it hydrated. With age, your body stops making hyaluronic acid. Results from HA injections typically last 6 to 18 months. Recent studies using MRI have shown that in some cases the HA is present after as long as 13 years.
Hyaluronic acid is a fabulous choice of dermal filler as it can be reversed if there is a medical problem or deep dissatisfaction.
Quality of product
Please be aware not all HA dermal fillers are created equally, and this may affect the ability for it to be reversed. Further more the quality of product use affects many different factors – such as its longevity, its ability to retain its shape and structure and ability to stretch with facial movement providing a seamless and natural looking result; its ability to integrate with the tissue – meaning it looks like you and not that “blow up doll” appearance we all fear.
Skill of the Clinician
The face is a highly complex structure with bone, fat, skin, veins and arteries & facial nerves that exist in harmony to enable function and expression. Your injector must have a sound understanding of the anatomy of your face; what makes the brain perceive beauty when your face is at rest and during movement and the skill and ability to respond and care for you competently and ethically should something not go as planned.

Will I look fake?
as discussed above skill of the clinician and choice of the right products can make it impossible for people to know that you have dermal fillers. Done correctly they will only enhance you. Please listen to your clinician as they will be able to professionally and objectively tell you when the line may be crossed risking an unnatural result.
How long will I be swollen for ?
This can be a difficult question to answer as people respond to treatment differently.
Typically there will be some swelling on the day of the procedure and this progress over the next 24-48 hours. over the next 2 weeks the swelling should be completely gone – however, it may take another 4 weeks for the product to completely integrate into your tissue so you look and feel completely natural. For some people there may be no swelling at all.
Will I bruise?
Most of my clients do not bruise – I use techniques such as frequent needle changes and cannula and I take my time and do not rush your procedure significantly reduce the risk of bruises. That being said – I can only reduce but completely prevent any risk occurring. Areas such as lips or tear troughs are highly vascular and delicate areas so they carry a much higher risk of bruising. It is always my advice to ask clients to consider how a bruise may impact their lives as being psychologically prepared is important for any procedure.
Will I have to pay for after care should I need it?
No. Dermal fillers carry risks and that is why it is best to always go to an experienced medical professional with view to mitigate risks as much as possible. However should they occur you want to be in caring and capable hands without the worry of extra cost – and as you are incredibly important to us we aim to provide easy access to aftercare at no extra cost.
